We begin our seventh group of pictures from Ex 'A' officers with a presentation from Ex P.C. 209'A'/139841 Kenneth Earl.

Downing Street, Winter 1968. P.C.380'A'(1965 - 69) Dave Jagger on left with PC Bill 'Paddy' Evans. The gentleman in the centre, a representative of Anguilla, had just visited Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
Note the unusual gloves DaveJagger is wearing, he was posted on the 'Noddy' bike for the day and was relieving the protection post. The gloves were of the reflective kind issued to all 'Noddy' riders .

Buckingham Palace circa 1956/7
Ex PC 799'A'/164477 Leonard Bentley sent us this picture of a sentry on duty 'outside' the gates of Buckingham Palace. Len would like to know if anyone remembers the actual date when the Guards 'retreated' behind the railings? Can you help? email: alphadeltaplus@gmail.com
UPDATE: (1) Ex 'A' PC Dave Barrowcliffe recognises the rifle shouldered by the guardsman and says that the gun went out of service in 1957 so therefore the image is pre 1957.
Update (2) Len Bentley after receiving many replies has discovered that the actual date that the Buckingham Palace patrols began within the Palace gates was Saturday 17th October 1959

Horseguards Parade 1966. PC 380 'A' Dave Jagger (on right) then a probationer and minus moustache learning from PC Graham Marr whose Father was Captain of the 'Queen Mary' liner at the time.

Late 1920's PC 344'A' Richard Knight directing traffic at Hyde Park Corner close to statue of The Duke of Wellington. PC Knight joined the Met on 06/12/20 and served on 'A' until 23/06/33 when he transferred to 'T' Division as PC 396 'T'. PC Knight retired 27/04/46

Ex Detective Superintendent John Gosling on right accompanied by Tom Tullett Chief Crime Correspondent of the Daily Mirror walking up Derby Gate towards Whitehall. John Gosling is the father of Ex PC 405'A'/148123 Martin Gosling who kindly presented the picture to us.
The picture was taken around 1959 and was used for the front cover of Mr. Gosling's book 'The Ghost Squad' and shows the 'Yard's' Victoria Embankment gates in the background and Cannon Row Police Station in the right foreground.

1970 a bearded PC 552'A' Dave Guy accompanied by a young lady
and PC 590'A'/158531 Jim Irwin. Jim tells us that the young lady had got her head stuck in some railings a little earlier.

1971 PC 552'A' Dave Guy now minus beard with 'Titch' PC 613 'A' (Not Father Christmas)
Update! Ex PC 821'A'/163867 David Davies thinks that 'Titch' could be Peter Kenny PC 613'A'.
Above info confirmed by Ex PC 590'A'/158531 Jim Irwin who can be seen in the image to the left.

PC 597 'A' Reg Leonard Trafalgar Square 1962
(note black helmet plate and duty arm band) Silver helmet plates were introduced circa May 1965. the black helmet plates were phased out during 1965 (Also see World Cup story below)

Snowballs On Trafalgar Square. Ex PC 597 'A' Reg Leonard recognises the PC on the left as PC John Jessop. Who is the PC on the right?
Ex 'A' PC Len Bentley having noticed different issues of uniform clothing feels that this picture was taken circa early 1980's.

Further to above, Ex PC 813 'A' Colin Partridge says that the PC on the left is Tim Garlick and the PC on the right is Fred Brigham.
